LEAK DETECTION

Leak detection technology is critical for monitoring the integrity of double-wall tanks, their interstitial spaces, and associated leak-containment structures. The interstitial space is the area between the primary tank and the secondary containment wall. If the primary tank is compromised by a crack, pinhole, weld failure, corrosion, or other defect, the stored liquid will enter this containment area before reaching the surrounding environment.

 

A leak sensor installed within the interstitial space can rapidly detect the presence of leaked product and activate visual and audible alarms, immediately notifying operating personnel of a potentially hazardous condition. Early detection allows personnel to respond before the leak can result in significant equipment damage, environmental contamination, or personnel exposure.
